But what if you look at familiar things from a different angle? You can turn a spoon into a collecting lens, a hanger into a convenient holder for a picture on the wall, a book into oppression or a counterweight.
Nut Crimper
For reliable connection of the welding cable to the current source or consumer, an aluminum or copper tip is used, for crimping of which a special tool is required - crimping pliers or crimper.
But if it was not at hand, then the crimper can be successfully replaced with an ordinary hexagonal steel nut. Moreover, the larger the cross-section of the cable, the larger the size of the hardware should be.
To do this, tighten the nut in a vice and cut the grinder into two equal parts.
Then, putting the tip on the bend of the stranded wire, grasp it with the halves of the nut and, placing it between the jaws of the vice, gently squeeze until the parts come together almost without gaps.
After removing the makeshift crimper (nut halves), we make sure that the tip reliably and firmly compresses the fold of the stranded wire, providing the necessary electrical contact, which is very important for the quality work of welding equipment.
Hacksaw blade - sandpaper cutter
Because of its layered structure, it’s not easy to tear a piece of sandpaper from the array without special tools, especially when it is on a fabric basis.
To facilitate and ennoble this operation, it’s convenient to use the old metal blade hacksaw blade as a technical “helper” and better double-sided, with greater rigidity.
For this, it is necessary to place volume washers under the steel strip to guarantee clearance, using an appropriate sized screw, fasten it with an electric drill or a hand screwdriver through the holes at the ends to a wooden wall or panel.
Now it is enough to stick sandpaper from the bottom between the wall and the canvas, grab it from above with the other hand and pull the top edge down until the sandpaper strip bends over the upper edge of the canvas and, holding the sheet from the bottom, start tearing the desired piece from one edge of the strip to the other. To make the tear line even, you need to hold the bottom edge of the paper in one position, without shifting up.
