In this review, the author shows how to make a do-it-yourself semi-automatic opener for cans.
Such a thing can be useful both at home and during outdoor recreation. The author uses a screwdriver as a drive.
To make the opener itself, you will need a bolt with two nuts, a pair of washers and a glass cutter.
It is not necessary to spoil a new glass cutter; you can use up the old, or even better, broken one.
The first thing to do is to sharpen the head of the bolt - to make it round. The author does this on a lathe, but not everyone has such an assembly.
Therefore, you can use a screwdriver or an electric drill and a file for metal. Such good should be in any workshop.
The main stages of work
In one of the washers, you will need to drill holes so that you can then attach the glass cutter.
Then the author welds a second washer to this washer (there should be a small gap between them), which will serve as an additional emphasis for the cutter.
You also need to drill a hole in it. And the extra part of the welded washer will need to be cut.
The inner hole of the washer into which the bolt will be inserted must be made egg-shaped. Need to grind just a little bit - just a couple of millimeters.
After that, the author makes notches on the head of the bolt using a file.
At the last stage, we collect the opener. In the washers, you need to drill a hole into which we insert the rivet (if there is no suitable rivet at hand, then you can use a screw).
Then we weld two handles from a metal bar to the washers, and the homemade product is ready.
