Using matting, you can give the glass surface a characteristic matte shade. This is easy to do with your own hands at home.
Glass frosting may be required in the manufacture of kitchen cabinets or interior doors.
In order to make the glass frosted, you will need a special self-adhesive film. It can be bought at a hardware store.
First of all, the glass will need to be washed well. For this, the author uses a tool for washing glass surfaces.
The main stages of work
At the next stage, it will be necessary to apply a slightly concentrated soap solution to the glass.
This is necessary so that the self-adhesive matte film does not stick directly to the glass, and it can be correctly positioned on the surface.
Next, take the film. On one side you will need to remove the protective coating. We apply it to the glass, controlling that there are allowances on all sides.
After that, using a special plastic spatula, we begin to smooth the film, expelling soapy water from under it.
You can also use a rubber spatula or make one yourself.
Then we remove the full protective coating from the inside and, holding the film by the edge, gently smooth it.
It is important to try so that no bubbles form under the film and wrinkles.
Then we cut off the edges of the film with a knife and smooth it around the glass perimeter in order to drive out the remaining water.
