Very often, the so-called aluminum caps are used to finish the “bare” ends of a tabletop or furniture. However, not everyone likes them. Many believe that they spoil the appearance of the product.
Therefore, for decorative decoration of the ends, you can use another option - a plastic edge in the form of a strip. It can be bought in the same store where you purchased the countertop.
Contact plastic is used for gluing the plastic edge, however, in the process of working with it, it is important that the room is well ventilated. It is also advisable to wear a respirator.
The main stages of work
The first step is to apply contact adhesive to the plastic edge. Then the author temporarily fixes the strip on the table with adhesive tape. Then you need to apply glue to the end of the countertop.
For the application of glue, a regular piece of foam rubber is used. It is not advisable to buy a brush for these purposes, since it will not work again.
Next, you need to wait about 3-5 minutes (until the glue ceases to shine), and you can glue the plastic edge on the end of the countertop. From above it will be necessary to iron the edge with an iron.
At the last stage of work, the protruding edges of the edge will need to be cut with the help of a manual milling cutter with an installed overrun mill.
