If you are going to give someone close to you an original gift, then you need to present it accordingly - in a beautiful box. That's just an ordinary cardboard box today is unlikely to surprise anyone. Therefore, you can simply turn on the imagination, and make a cool "case" of wood in the form of a miniature box.
First of all, it is necessary to file blanks of a suitable size (the width and length of the box can be different, depending on the size of the gift itself). To make the original “case”, you will need to file four identical rectangular blanks and two smaller ones.
The main stages of work
A piece of board or plywood about 20 mm thick can be used as material. It will also be necessary to saw into small pieces a wooden rail 2-3 cm wide. After all the necessary blanks are assembled on the table, you can proceed to gluing the box.
To connect the side walls and the bottom of the "case" it is best to use glue on an epoxy basis. First, we fasten the pieces of the wooden battens across the boards, and then we glue the side walls together. At the next stage, glue the bottom of the box.
When the main box is ready, it remains only to cover it with a lid. Please note that the lid itself does not need to be fastened with anything, but it must "sit" very tightly between the rails. To open the lid, you will need a "secret" tool, which will be included with the gift.
You can make such a lever tool from an ordinary key for hex caps, giving the shape of a small crowbar with a nail puller. If desired, the finished "case" can be covered with mineral oil or varnish, and also write on it some inscriptions.
