A wooden pendant in the form of a bird with outstretched wings is an original gift for a close and dear person: although small, but significant. To make a souvenir, you need the drawing of the bird itself (the template can be downloaded from the Internet) and a small piece of board.
The main stages of work
First of all, we glue the paper template to the wooden blank and cut it out on a band saw. This work is painstaking, so you have to have a little patience. When the draft version of the product is ready, you can begin machining. With the help of a drill, we begin to diligently grind the surface, removing all unnecessary.
After rough grinding, it is necessary to treat the surface of the product with fine emery cloth to remove roughness and smooth out all irregularities. Then in the wings you need to drill holes for attachment to a chain or lace. Fine grinding of the product is carried out manually with an “null” sandpaper.
We wash the bird under a stream of water and leave it to dry for some time in the sun, putting it on the windowsill. The finished product can be coated with mineral oil, colorless varnish or stain.
