It is not very convenient to use the standard key, which is supplied with the electric drill and drilling machine (especially if you often have to change the drill during operation). This is primarily due to the ill-conceived design of the key itself.
Since the lever is small, it is far from always possible to exert sufficient force to securely fix the drill or nozzle in the chuck. However, to solve this problem is very simple - you just need to make a homemade key for an electric drill chuck with an extended lever.
The main stages of work
We clamp the factory key for the drill chuck in a vise and with a grinder we cut off the tail part - we will no longer need it. To the back side of the key trimming it is necessary to weld a sleeve from a pipe of a suitable diameter. Then we process the part on emery.
We insert a steel rod inside the sleeve onto which short sections of a square bar with pre-drilled holes for fastening are worn on both sides. A long bar is inserted between them (this will be an extended lever for the key), after which all fasteners are fixed by welding.
After that, we grind the surface of the resulting device well, removing all the irregularities and burrs, and you can test it in work. Tightening the cartridge with such a makeshift wrench is a pleasure. A detailed process of manufacturing and assembling this device, see the video on the site.
