Having a little finalized the usual angle grinder, you can make a complete chain saw out of it - no worse than factory analogues. Such a homemade product is definitely useful to everyone who has a summer cottage or a country house.
Materials and stages of work
To make a chain saw from a grinder, you need a drive sprocket from any chainsaw, a nut for it (inserted inside), a piece of sheet metal, a pair of bolts, two steel plates, and of course, an angle grinder itself, as well as a tire with a chain.
From sheet metal, you must first cut to size, and then weld the protective cover for the grinder. It is necessary to make a hole in it in the central part, and then weld a pipe segment (along the diameter of the hole) with a slot from the outside.
After that, all places of the welds must be cleaned with a brush for metal and polished with a grinder for greater aesthetics.
Assembly of the entire structure
First, a protective steel casing welded from sheet metal is put on the grinder, then a tire with a chain and a drive sprocket. Additionally, in the casing itself, it is necessary to make two holes for the bolts to fix the tire. The bolt caps on the back must be seized by welding.
Also, from two pieces of plates with holes you need to make "ears" for attaching the casing to the body of the grinder itself. After that, the cover can be removed to paint. This construction is assembled in the same sequence. See the video on our website for the detailed process of making this homemade product.
