The tool is a modified iron ruler, on which a pair of iron barrels with a pencil and a sharp part is mounted. If desired, these devices can always be removed and use the ruler in standard mode.
To create barrels, you need a round, in which a hole is drilled and a thread is cut, and on the opposite side a hole is made for the tip and pencil. To keep these homemade products on the ruler, they made “cuts” on the side where it is placed and fixed with a bolt.
Using the compass, you can find the center on the surface of the material or draw circles. If you combine the sharp part with the start of the measurement, then the ruler can be used immediately, outlining the required distances.
