Today on sale you can find a variety of designs of tap holders, which are largely similar in principle. Most often, purchased holders are designed for a certain size of taps (however, sometimes you can also find combined options - for large and small taps).
However, there are also universal tap holders that are suitable for almost all types of taps. At the same time, they are slightly different from the classic holders both in form and in principle of action.
How the universal holder works
A distinctive feature of this tap holder is that it simultaneously has four movable jaws, which provide reliable fixation of the tap. Moreover, this whole structure is set in motion by a slight movement of the hand by rotating the handle on the housing.
Another interesting feature is that the tap holder jaws are clamped to zero size, and the maximum grip is 10.5 mm. This allows you to work with almost all types of taps, which are most often used in the home workshop and garage. Thanks to this particular design, clamping taps is very convenient.
Also, if necessary, you can unscrew the handles - for example, if you need to cut the thread somewhere, and the handles interfere. The case is quite wide, so it can be clamped in the fingers and twisted in the right direction.
The movable jaws, which are inside the case, are closed by two steel plates screwed onto small screws. One of the sponges has a thread - when the handle is rotated, it moves freely back and forth, pushing the adjacent sponge, which, in turn, pushes the adjacent one.
